SAOIRSE RONAN HAS had a whirlwind couple of months.

From landing her second Oscar nomination to rehearsing for Broadway to educating the American public on how to pronounce her name, she’s been one hell of a busy lady.

And now she has only gone and landed herself a spot on the cover of the prestigious Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue.

Just hanging with Helen Mirren and Diane Keaton, no biggy.

So what does Vanity Fair have to say about Saoirse?

Lou Reed may not have written the Velvet Underground song “Pale Blue Eyes” picturing Saoirse Ronan (How could he? She wasn’t born yet), but every close-up of this Irish American actress wafts its lyrics toward us. Especially in Brooklyn, adapted from Colm Tóibín’s novel by fellow novelist Nick Hornby, where Ronan’s uplifted glances, snowdrop complexion, and demure poise as Eilis Lacey, an immigrant trying to find her place in the raucous melting pot of New York, achieve the wistful beauty of a ballad and won Ronan an Oscar nomination for best actress.

*blushes*

Ronan finds herself in good company this year with the cover also featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Brie Larson, Cate Blanchett, Jane Fonda, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlotte Rampling, Alicia Vikander, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Helen Mirren, Rachel Weisz, Viola Davis and Diane Keaton.

The cover, which is notably all-women, has won praise on social media for featuring a diverse line-up of actresses.

You can view Annie Leibovitz’s portraits of each of the actresses here.
